Lima itinerary
The point of departure is the city of Viana do Castelo, a merchant city marked by its fishing and seafaring heritage, and situated in the Lima valley delta. The city center is a monument to the maritime Discoveries in Portuguese history. The next point of interest is the unusual town of Ponte de Lima, the origins of which are lost in time, and where one finds a remarkable and functional Roman bridge over the Lima river. Travelling along the south shore of the Lima river, one will encounter Ponte da Barca, which derives its name "Barca" (barge or boat) from the ferry that served as one of the few connection points between the two margins. Travelling on to Arcos de Valdevez, where one will encounter several fascinating medieval bridges, and over one of which one will cross to the opposite side of the river, the trip will conclude in Refoios do Lima, which boasts of a beautifully preserved "Mosteiro" (castle), as well as a medieval tower.
